Blades and Rings is a new action RPG from 37Games – a medieval fantasy 3D MMORPG for Android and iOS, to be exact. You will be taken to the wondrous homelands of elves, dwarves, gnomes, orcs, and other monsters, as you try to collect 27 rings and save the world from evil. There are various game modes and mechanics, such as the free equipment system, which isn’t as “free” as you may think – this allows you to earn equipment for killing monsters. However, you can trade items without price restrictions, and take advantage of the “powerful and diverse” social features, which promise to engage new and old MMORPG players alike, and make it arguably a must to utilize these features to the fullest.

1. Make Your Hero Better

This is probably a no-brainer if you’ve been playing these games for some time, but we’re going to list it in here nonetheless – you want to improve your character so you can be up to speed and competitive against those other human players and their characters. For instance, you want to be in as many battles as possible so you can level up faster; the higher your level is, the more skills are available for you to unlock, and the more you can improve your character’s stats.

2. Complete The Quests And Take Part In Special Events

You’ll want to pay close attention to the game’s non-playing characters, as they can give you quests that will help you stay within the natural progression of the game, and always be up to speed. You may be asked to take on human opponents, gather specific items, or whatnot – either way, you can get some useful rewards, including, but not limited to money, equipment, or special items that aren’t available anywhere else. In addition to the quests, we recommend that you complete the special events, which could give you even more rewards for doing well in them. Make sure your character has the potential to perform well in these events, otherwise you may be wasting your time and leaving the event with few rewards, if any at all.

3. To Auto Battle Or Not?

Blades and Rings comes with an auto battle feature that could make things easier for your character, leaving all tactics and strategies in the hands of the game’s AI. Your character would then be fighting monsters automatically, but that’s not always the best thing to do. In fact, we would even say that this is seldom the best thing to do. The game’s AI usually goes with the most simplistic strategy possible, and that means you should be fighting most of the battles for your characters to ensure you have the best chances of killing more monsters.

4. Shop Around In The Market

You can head to the market to buy and sell items, and if you’re in the need of new items to make your character even more formidable in battle, you’ll want to focus on shopping around and finding some good weapons or other pieces of equipment. You may be better off buying common items from NPCs, but if you’re looking for those really impressive items that could help you out, the market is your best choice. Likewise, if you’re in need of some currency, you can sell items you no longer need. Keep a close eye on how the prices are trending so you can get the best value for your used items.

5. Should You Spend Some Real-Life Money?

Although Blades and Rings is technically a free-to-play game, there has been some criticism that the game is pay-to-win. You can get some premium items and get yourself well ahead of your human opponents by paying real money to buy these items, though at the end of the day, it’s all up to you. We recommend spending on items if you’ve got some extra cash to spend, but otherwise, you can do pretty well for yourself if you’re patient enough and play the game without paying for anything.
